War Horse Sense, A 100 Word Story

Colonel Stratton was a cavalry officer first and foremost. He rode a gallant steed all across France in the First World War. The Army was his life, but here in Europe during the latest global conflict, he was starting to hate the changes of the last twenty five years.
Once, he had ridden his horse through thick woods, through muddy fields of bogged down artillery.
He stared at the broken broom handle that pierced the radiator of his Jeep, the engine sputtered, and he did the only thing an old horse soldier knew to do. He shot the steaming heap.

This is my entry in the weekly challenge here. The subject this week was "steaming heap"... Thanks a steaming heap Elisson. Anyway... Go, Read, Listen, Enjoy, VOTE!

UPDATE: Busted.

Staff Of Life, A 100 Word Story

"Guardian Angel Number Three reporting... That was a close one" K-nine had almost stepped out in front of a speeding cab, but then had to stop to scratch his ankle at the curb. As he blissfully wandered down Austin's 6th Street, Angel Five made him crave a hamburger just before he bought a ptomaine tainted hotdog from a street vendor. Angel Two arranged for a huge biker to walk back into a bar before K-nine winked at said biker's girlfriend. Angels One and Four rested before their shift. It was a tough job being on this particular Staff of Life.

Reel Lines (7)

Phil: What would you do if you were stuck in one place and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?
Ralph: That about sums it up for me.

Tomorrow I will be shipping out to Lisa as promised:
a B.D. Riley's T-shirt
a 20 oz Guinness glass
and as a bonus:
a Pubcrawler CD (Irish music) recorded live at the pub
Down at the bottom of the shirt it says "as seen on television". BD Riley's was featured on Downtown, a PBS series about Austin, as well as having been seen on MTV's Real World Austin. Riley's was also in the movie The Life of David Gale... The scene where Kevin Spacey and Leon Rippy are sitting at the bar and Kevin Spacey is spinning his ring. The bartender Pete in the movie was the bartender/manager Pete in real life.
" weekend, when I don't have to work, I will garb myself in my new shirt, listen to my new CD and raise a glass, toasting to your good health." -Reader Lisa
