Tuesday Tune Session

Howdy friends... This year I'm making a concerted effort to blog more. I know I've said that in the past, but this time I mean it. So... In effort to do exactly that I'm continuing with the weekly posting of music from my now more than 6000 tunes... Tunes such as these:
1. Blue Railroad Train - Doc Watson

2. A Tu Vera - Gipsy Kings

3. My Blood - Neville Brothers

4. Fools Game - Jon Cleary

5. Bush Doctor - Peter Tosh

6. No Business - Bonnie Raitt

7. Dreamgirls - Dreamgirls Motion Picture Cast

8. Wife Beater - Drive By Truckers

(No video, but here are the lyrics)

You met him at the dance hall, you only saw his charms
You said he really swept you off your feet
Then one night he's drinking and jealousy enraged
He knocked out two of your front teeth

So you came over to hide out at my place
I guess I should have killed him there and then
But you begged me not to, now you say he's changed
And you're gonna go back to him

Don't give me that bull about how it's for the children
A man like that could never be a dad
What happens when he kills you? What will they do then?
Sometimes you ought to ask yourself that

Don't go back to him he's a wife beater
Be better off with this potato eater
You says, "He's changed", don't be a fool
A man like that's no good for you
A man like that's no good for you

Don't go back to him he's a wife beater
Be better off with this potato eater
You says, "He's changed", don't be a fool
A man like that's no good for you
A man like that's no good for you
A man like that's no good for you

9. La Alborada - Maria Ochoa

10. Love My Way - Psychedelic Furs

Tuesday Holiday Tune Session

Merry Christmas to everyone out there... Be it your faith or not, be merry.
As it is well known, I am not really big on Christmas, but the Red Queen can be. Work has her super stressed right now, but she usually loves it. So much so, that of all the music I have loaded on iTunes over 400 of them are Christmas music of some strain. Classical, Baroque, Celtic, Traditional, Religious, Blues, Jazz, or Pop; take your pick, it's there. Some 20 plus hours of Christmas music.
There are no less than 10, count 'em TEN Silent Nights. Eight Ave Marias, Joy to the worlds, and O Holy Nights sung by monks, choirs, artists of every strain or just instrumental in English, Italian, German, Spanish and (I kid you not) Gaelic... At a minimum.
It's a bit daunting, I tell you.
Since Christmas comes but once a year, and since there is such a wide variety here, This Tuesday Tune Session will contain not the usual 10 songs (Heck, I could have just done Silent Night 10 times) I'm doing twenty. Also if a title repeats, I will only include it once by the most unusual artist that comes up.
With out further delay; Tuesday's Tunes:
1. I'll Be Home For Christmas - Tony Bennett
2. Jingle Bells - Mormon Tabernacle Choir
3. Wexford Carol - Nightnoise
4. Ave Maria - Harry Connick Jr.
5 Salve Regina - Boston Camerata
6. Silver Bells - Lou Rawls
7. Little Drummer Boy - Peggy Lee
8. Good King Wenceslas - The Irish Tenors
9. Exultation - Waverly Consort
10. Praesta Quaesumus - Benedictine Monks of St. Martin Beuron
11. O Holy Night (Italian) - Pietro Ballo & Massimo Children's Choir
12. Skating - Vince Guaraldi Trio
13. Benedicamus Domino - Chanticleer
14. Carol of the Bells - Andy Williams
15. Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy - Canadian Brass
16. Baby It's Cold Outside - Willie Nelson & Nora Jones
17. Let It Snow - Dean Martin
18. Silent Night, Holy Night - Mahalia Jackson
19. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Etta James
20. Joy To The World - Thomas Hampson
What are you tuned into this Christmas?

Tuesday Tune Session

Pearl Harbor Day. With all my running around this week, I almost forgot. Here's to my Pop and all the others who went through that Hell Sunday morning so long ago.
Sorry for the sparse posting, but the Red Queen was home from working in NYC so she takes priority over most everything else. She came home just in time for the worst cold snap yet... and no heat in the old home except plug ins and propane... Tough duty for my best girl, especially since it was a whopping 16 degrees this morning. But, she's back up north where heat is the flick of a switch, and I'm OK with fire from a tank... For now.
Well, I'm cold and tired, let's see what's in the music files.
1. Sloop John B - The Beach Boys

2. Tin Pan Alley - Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble

3. Moonlight Mile - The Rolling Stones

4. Si Puo? (La Boheme: Act 1) - Luciano Pavarotti, Mirella Freni, Etc.; Herbert Von Karajan: Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Oper Chorus

5. That Man Will Not Hang - Mclusky

6. Lover's Prayer - Van Morrison

7. The Captain - Kasey Chambers

8. Mass IV Sanctus, Sanctus - Huelgas Ensemble with Paul Van Nevel

9. Pony Blues - Alvin Youngblood Hart

10. Femme Fatale - The Velvet Underground

Tuesday Tune Session

Elisson over at Lost In The Cheese Aisle has been doing a random 10 songs on Friday for a really long time. Well, now that I have nearly 6000 songs loaded on my iTunes I thought... "Why not steal a good idea that someone else already stole?"
So... This may be the beginning of a regular thing... Since I just started posting again and I don't want to burn myself out by jumping in too deep again, this is pretty simple and brainless, but may open your horizons.
The premise is simple. I hit shuffle on iTunes, and the first 10 songs that pop up, I post.
So, with no further ado... The Tuesday Tune Session:
1. Truth Be Told - Tal Wilkenfield
2. 666 Pack of Beer - Rebel Son
3. I Am Your Mother Too - Keb Mo
4. Dusty - Kings of Leon
5. Salvator Della Patria (Verdi's Aida, Act 2) - Jose Carreras & Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
6. Streets Of Sin - Joe Ely
7. Back In Black - Hayseed Dixie
8. Ozark - Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays
9. Captain Higgins - John Whelan
